The line it never crosses.
Any tool can answer emails automatically. What matters is what happens the day it gets something wrong. Space Cake is built so the cases that could actually hurt your business — a complaint, a made-up price, a double-booked diary — aren't just unlikely. They're built to be impossible.

There is no toggle for this — that's the whole point.
A setting that defaults to "off" can still be switched on by accident, or by someone in a hurry. So the rules below aren't settings at all — they're wired into how Space Cake works, checked before anything else, on every single plan.
Ten things Space Cake will never do
Complaints, refunds, returns, and money — never the AI
The moment an email is a complaint, a refund or return request, or anything about money or an invoice, it goes straight to you. Every time. This check runs before any other setting is even looked at, so there is no dial, no plan, and no "hands-off mode" that can switch it off.
It can't invent a price, a discount, or a promise
Before any reply is allowed to send, Space Cake checks its own draft for a price, a percentage off, an appointment time, or a guarantee. If it finds one it wasn’t explicitly given, the reply stops and waits for you — even if everything else about the email looked routine.
Prices come from your list, always marked as an estimate
The only prices Space Cake can ever say out loud are the ones on your own price list — and it always adds "this is an estimate, not a binding quote". No customer can hold you to a number you never set.
It can't double-book your diary
Booking is locked and re-checked at the exact moment a customer confirms, so the same slot can never go to two people — see how the diary works.
It never opens a link in a customer email
Whatever a customer writes, Space Cake reads the words — it never clicks a link they've sent. Any hidden or dodgy code in an email is stripped out before it can reach you.
Customer files are never stored — anywhere
If someone attaches a photo or a document, Space Cake keeps the filename and nothing else. If you open it, it's fetched, checked for viruses, shown to you, and then it's gone. There's no file store to ever leak.
It never pretends to have read a file
It will happily say “thanks for the photos” — but it will never claim to have looked inside one, priced a job from one, or diagnosed anything from one. It's honest about what it can and can't see.
When it isn't sure, it says so
If a message is angry, unusual, or the AI just isn't confident, it doesn't guess. It quietly hands the email to you with a plain-English reason, instead of sending something that might be wrong.
Your customer is never left in silence
The moment something sensitive lands, the customer gets a short, warm "thanks — someone will be back to you personally" straight away, while the real reply waits for your judgement.
Your data never mixes with anyone else’s
Every business's information is walled off from every other business's. If the system is ever unsure whose data a request belongs to, it shows nothing at all — it fails safe, not open.
Guardrails do not mean every email waits for you.
The rules are there so routine work can move quickly without letting risky messages slip through. Space Cake is confident with facts, careful with judgement.
Fast answers from your facts
Opening hours, areas covered, standard services, and saved answers can be handled quickly because they come from information you set.
Bookings from real availability
When booking is on, customers are offered genuine free slots, not guessed appointment times or promises outside your diary.
Warm handover for the rest
If the message needs human judgement, the customer still gets acknowledged while the real answer waits for you.
We'd rather tell you exactly what this does and doesn't cover than let you assume too much. Space Cake never opens links in customer emails — but it doesn't yet warn you if one looks suspicious. It never invents a price of its own — but it can only quote what's on your price list, so keep that list up to date. If something isn't built yet, we'd rather say so than let you find out the hard way.
See it hold the line yourself.
Try the live demo and send it a tricky one — a complaint, a refund request, an odd question. Watch what it does instead of guessing.
