Connect your first inbox

How to connect the business email account Space Cake will watch for customer enquiries.

Your inbox is where Space Cake starts. Once it is connected, Space Cake can watch for customer enquiries, prepare replies, and bring anything sensitive back to you.

Before you start

Use the email address customers already contact. For most small businesses, that is either a custom-domain mailbox such as hello@yourbusiness.co.uk, or a provider such as Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, GMX, or mail.com.

You will need:

  • your email address
  • the password or app password for that mailbox
  • a few minutes where you can check the connection result

Connect the inbox

Open Space Cake, go to the inbox setup step, and enter the email address you want to connect. If Space Cake recognises the provider, it will fill in the connection details for you. If it needs an app password, it will tell you before you try to connect.

When the connection works, Space Cake will show the inbox as connected. From there, you can teach it your business voice and decide how much it should send by itself.

If it does not connect

Most failed connections are caused by the mailbox rejecting the password. That usually means the provider needs an app password, or the mailbox has a security setting that blocks outside apps.

If the connection fails, check the provider guidance in the Help centre and try again. Do not keep retrying the same password over and over; some providers temporarily block repeated attempts.

Still stuck? Browse the help centre or get in touch from inside the app.
